  1. I assume when the twin towers collapsed, the dust particles spread throughout many nearby streets where people were present. The risk of asbestos was there.

  2. @omid11 it’s a naturally occurring mineral, not man made! It was used in housing decades ago because people weren’t as aware of the health problems, and at face-value, asbestos is very useful since it doesn’t burn. We’re only aware of the issues now since so many people exposed to it have died due of mesothelioma, where one single fibre gets caught in the lungs and cancer grows from it. Just don’t go anywhere near old buildings being renovated whatever you do.

Not entirely true. Your body can remove some of them. If one particle of asbestos was so very dangerous, everyone would be dead. it is naturally occurring. The danger is breathing in large amounts of over years. That is why most fatalities center around asbestos production, ship building, construction and so forth.

Still wear a 20 dollar respirator with a HEPA filter. Cheap paint masks will do nothing.

  4. @butterflystyler83 asbestos is a natural forming mineral in the earths crust. They mine it because it is pretty much like a rock except you can split it up like string cheese and thats where you get it.. Normal house hold dust is not the same. I work for a company that cleans this stuff out of schools, churches and homes.

  5. hello :) can the body digest asbestos if it is only a little that you have inhaled ? i have cleaned several whole roofs wich was asbestos , pretty big roofs and i know i have inhaled quite a bit of the stuff … iva also cut in it and inhaled without mask thank you

  6. @straightupmenace

No, this video is actually pretty harsh about it. Short exposures of high amounts and long exposures of small amounts isn’t harmful entirely. Eventually your lungs with cover up the particles inhaled, however, very long exposure to asbestos will cause the lungs to continue to cover up and eventually become smaller, and have more scar tissue. This is when real problems begin occuring.

  7. the world trade center towers had tons of asbestos in them, all that dust that came after the towers felt was asbestos, you get diagnosed with lung cancer after 10 years of inhaling asbestos,i know that bc i am an insulation worker and i know how it looks like, you need to be certified in order to remove asbestos,a simple dusk mast wont protect you at all

  8. Well great, I as a plumber came 4-5 times in contact with asbestos, my coworker had to remove some Eternit pipes and he always cuts them and smashed them whilst Im working in the same room, now im concerned if I might get mesothelioma or asbestosis because of his actions. He always told me it only contains 10% asbestos and is binded with cement it will be dangerous if you work with it for many periods of times, say months. but Im still concerned about the effects. :/ asbestos is still asbestos

  9. Wow this is definately a wake up call. It’s probably a little late though concidering that my A/C Heating circulation ducts are lined with asbestos. When we renovated it, we never took it out, just covered it with fiberglass.
